Welding Machine Repair Technician

Currently seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Welding Machine Repair Technician, at our facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Job Summary:

  • Rebuild, repair and maintain welding equipment, applying knowledge of machine repair and industrial electronics.
  • Inspects machine and observes operation to detect cause of malfunction.
  • Disassembles machine, using hand tools.
  • Selects replacement parts lists and catalogs, or repairs parts, such as motor drive controls, motors, belts, transformers, bushings, bearings, and gears.
  • Solders loose connections and rewires electrical circuits.
  • Reassembles machine, using hand tools, welding and brazing equipment, and measuring instruments. Sets up and starts repaired machine to verify operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform major and minor repairs of welding equipment, and associated equipment utilizing vendor technical manuals and wiring schematics.
  • Must be able to perform repairs in the shop or field service visit to customer’s facility.
  • Refurbish equipment – tear down, inspect, repair, calibrate, clean and paint
  • Practice safe behaviors and good shop keeping.
  • Keep work areas clean and hazard-free
  • Perform documented Quality Review Process to insure repaired equipment will meet customer expectations.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience operating welding equipment and field service experience is a plus – Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT) diploma an asset
  • Working knowledge of mechanics and electricity, as well as troubleshooting, reading electrical diagrams, and testing electrical equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures properly

The wage ranges from $25-$30 per hour + Travel (from Pictou to the Dartmouth facility if needed).

  • Assist the Production team of Cultivation Technicians and guide them to achieve production targets within set timelines.
  • Perform and control activities related to cannabis starting materials and execute production processes as per respective Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Develop and execute irrigation, and nutrient supply plans to ensure optimum plant growth and maximize finished product output.
  • Execute integrated pest and pathogen management program in view of elimination/ control of all types of mold powdery mildew, spider mites, fungus gnats, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal organizational policies and security measures related to Marijuana products.
  • Report regulatory issues and concerns with the potential to impact product quality to Quality Assurance department and management.
  • Maintain audit ready status of Production department and participate in internal self- inspection and Health Canada regulatory audits, as necessary and participate with audit response preparation.
  • Assist with Marijuana processing, product transfer and destruction of Cannabis materials and Marijuana products. Ensure process and product security measures at all times during the entire processing stages.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the main function of our business is Vehicle repair, the mechanic is an integral part of our team.  They are responsible for the complete repair to vehicles and completion of regular vehicle maintenance.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Mechanic is responsible for:

Mechanical Repairs (100%)

  • Completion of vehicle maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
  • Installing lights, car batteries, fuses, hoses, etc.
  • All vehicle motor repairs

Other duties as required.

Job Description: After School Program Leaders (part time)

This is a unique opportunity to have a positive impact on the well-being of young people in West Hants. Many young people do not have the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities due to barriers including cost and accessibility. The After School Program is free to participants and aims to introduce young people to options for active lifestyles in West Hants. The objective is to provide opportunities for physical activity in a fun, high energy, safe environment, where no pre-requisite skills are required. It is encouraged that activities, whether structured or unstructured will provide moderate to vigorous physically active for at least one hour during each session. We are looking for someone who can relate well with the participants, encourage participation and have fun while remaining a positive role model and ensuring a safe environment for play.

- This is a 34 week term position running from approximately Mid-September to May 31.
- Normal work week can average 4-10 hours per week depending upon availability.
- Hours of work are typically during the time period of 2:15-4:30.
- The incumbent is expected to work primarily from a home office when planning activities and deliver them onsite at the school(s) or at activity sites.
- Potential to work with the West Hants Middle School programs during lunch time or after school time period depending upon incumbent’s availability.

Responsibilities:
- Provide a variety of activities for a maximum of 20 youth.
- Organize equipment for the day’s activity.
- Be at the school and ready to greet the participants when classes end and program begins.
- Lead activities.
- Oversee any Assistant Program Leader, assign duties as necessary and role model leadership skills.
- Contact school and Active Communities Programmer by 9:00 AM when unable to attend that day.
- Refer behaviour issues to the Principal or designate when necessary.
- Organize presentations if desired for the participants in collaboration with Active Communities Programmer.
- Keep Program binder up-to-date, including the Activity Tracking form, parent/caregiver sign in & sign out forms.
- Provide proof of Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record checks, prior to the program commencing.

Wage Info:
- $15/hour (including a half hour before and after the program for prep and cleanup).
- 1 hour a week will be allowed for prep outside of the program to plan activities.
- Payment will be biweekly with income tax deducted as directed.
- Time sheets are to be submitted weekly to the Active Communities Programmer by fax or email.
- The Program Leader will not be paid when the program is cancelled due to illness, storms or in-services.
