POSITION: Group Fitness Instructor

COMPANY: Transcend Health and Fitness

START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY: $15.00-$17.00/hour

HOURS: Various shifts- Early am (6:00am) to Noon, 4:00 to 8:00pm, Saturdays (8:00 to 2:00pm)

JOB DUTIES:      

You will be responsible for teaching group classes of up to 15 people utilizing kettlebells, dumbbells and battle ropes, while facilitating stretching, yoga and Pilates.

  • Provide excellent customer service by promptly responding to member needs and concerns
  • Develop positive relationships with class participants by teaching a variety of challenging and entertaining group fitness classes
  • Educate class participants on correct form and alternate moves during the fitness routine
  • Attentively listen to members, answer questions, and engage in conversation before and after classes
  • Provide current music ensuring appropriate language
  • Clean and organize studio after each group fitness class
  • Inform participants of the rules and regulations, as well as safety concerns related to the activity
  • Develop fitness routines which follow proper technique and are appropriate for the group of participants at the time of each class
  • Beginning and ending fitness class on time; with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool-down
  • Enforce all facility and program policies and ensure safety standards are met
  • In the case of an accident or injury, follow emergency procedure as outlined in orientation and submitting the appropriate injury report form to the owner

Certifications:          First Aid/CPR

                                    Group Fitness Certification

                                    Own Liability Insurance

Qualities:

Customer Service Skills-  The instructor should be polite, friendly, and encouraging to maintain relationships with their clients.

Motivational Skills- Getting fit and staying fit takes a lot of work for many clients. To keep clients coming back for more classes, the instructor must keep their clients motivated.

Physical Fitness- The instructor need to be physically fit because their job requires a considerable amount of exercise.

Speaking Skills- The instructor must be able to communicate well because they need to be able to explain exercises and movements to clients, as well as motivate them verbally during exercises.
